PURPOSE: To obtain the support of the photographic printing paper superior in water resistance, whiteness, and surface smoothness and excellent in the resolution of the photographic printing paper to be formed by using it by coating raw paper with a coating composition obtained by diluting a highly concentrated master dispersion containing a white pigment with a polyester resin.
CONSTITUTION: The highly concentrated master dispersion is prepared by kneading components into the polyester resin so as to give a composition comprising a ≥45 weight % white pigment, a ≥0.35 weight % ultramarine blue and/or violet, and a ≥0.01 weight % dispersing aid in the total composition, and this dispersion is diluted with the polyester resin to give a desired composition, and the raw paper is coated with it on the side to be coated with emulsion layers. The contents of the white pigment and the ultramarine blue and/or violet in the coating layer is 15-45 weight % and 0.06-0.35 weight %, respectively, and it is preferred to use titanium dioxide and barium sulfate as the white pigment.
