PURPOSE: To prevent the breakdown of a point, and to easily and exactly execute a work by forming the point in a final process, and attaching a thread to a longer base material then final length of a surgical operation needle.

CONSTITUTION: By cutting a wire consisting of stainless steel, many straight base materials 1 are prepared. Its diameter is almost the same degree as the diameter of a surgical operation needle or a little larger than the latter, and its length is pretty longer than final length of the surgical operation needle. Subsequently, by arranging many base materials 1 and connecting them with an adhesive tape 5, and irradiating one end face of the base material 1 with a laser beam or an electron beam, a hole 1a is bored. Next, after the base material 1 is subjected to chemical polishing, a thread 2 is attached to the base material 1 by inserting one end part of a thread into the hole 1a and caulking it by a pair of dies, and the base material 1 is curve. Thereafter, the base material 1 is cut to prescribed length and a point 1b is formed by an electrolytic polishing method. In such a way, a breakdown of the point in a thread attaching process can be prevented, and even in the case final length of the surgical operation needle is short, the work can be executed easily and exactly.
