PURPOSE: To manufacture a temp. sensitive material having the composition of spin rearrangement type compounds and showing an easily magnetizing direction in a desired crystal face as a whole by compacting mixed powder of two or more components of spin rearrangement type compounds at about room temp. in a magnetic field followed by sintering.
CONSTITUTION: Spin rearrangement type compound starting materials capable of being separated so that at least one component has a transition temp. zone at about room temp. are arc melted in an inert gas atmosphere. The resulting ingot is pulverized to the size of almost single magnetic domain fine particles to separately form about 5W10μ components. The powders of two or more components are then uniformly mixed with a V-shaped mixer, and this mixed fine powder is compacted at about room temp. while applying a magnetic field to obtain a green compact in which fine particles have their magnetizing directions in the easily magnetizing direction of each component powder. The green compact is sintered at ≥1,000°C to manufacture a desired temp. sensitive material. This material includes a sintered body having the composition of Dy0.88Sm0.12Co5.3 and showing very high orienting power in the C-axis direction.
