PURPOSE: To provide a method to manufacture a high brightness and high efficiency type thin film EL element including a luminous layer to which a different kind of luminescent center material is added.
CONSTITUTION: A different kind of luminescent center material is mixed while being fused or heated so as to be mixed with luminous layer parent body material in an automatic glass mortar. And next, mixed powder is pressurized so as to be molded by a hydraulic press to make a depositing pellet. The luminous layer of a thin film EL element is formed by means of electron beam deposition using the pressurized and formed pellet. In a luminous layer formed by this method, since the different kind of the luminescent material lies in a comparatively close distance, energy is efficiently transferred between luminescent centers, so that a high brightness and high efficiency type thin film EL element is thereby obtained.
