Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain directly a thin strip of iron or alloy steel with high plane accuracy for a laminated iron core from molten metal by directly rolling molten steel contg. added C, B, Si and P to form an amorphous thin strip and heating the strip in a wet hydrogen atmosphere to remove the added elements.

CONSTITUTION: Molten steel prepared by adding Si and one or more among B, C and P to molten iron or alloy steel is directly rolled to form an amorphous thin strip having ≤100μm thickness. By heat treating the strip in a wet hydrogen atmosphere, a part or all of the added elements are removed to obtain a crystalline thin strip of iron or alloy steel. By this method a thin strip with high plane accuracy is obtd. without requiring refining equipment such as a converter or an open hearth furnace. A laminated iron core having superior performance is obtd. using the thin strip.
