PURPOSE: To obtain the titled tubular body which can prevent distortion due to the difference in the adhesivity and the coefficient of thermal expansion accomplishing an integral joint by a method wherein a high-strength short fiber is impregnated with a thermosetting synthetic resin, wrapped on a core metal once and then, the end faces thereof butted together to join.
CONSTITUTION: A thin woven cloth 2 is laminated on one side of a short fiber sheet 1 in which high-strength short fibers (e.g. carbon fiber 3W6mm long and 7μm in the diameter) are arranged in one way to overlap each other as required and impregnated with a thermosetting synthetic resin (e.g. epoxy resin) to form a prepreg sheet 3. The sheet 3 thus obtained is wrapped on a core metal once and end faces thereof are butted together to join without overlapping. Then, it is taped and hardened by heat to obtain the desired tubular body.
