Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an unsintered nickel pole for an alkaline storage battery with the usage factor of active material being extremely high.
SOLUTION: Sodium hydroxide water solution is added to composite particle powder A with β-CoOOH layers formed on the surfaces of nickel hydroxide particles or nickel hydroxide mainly contained solid solution particles and heat- treated at 50-200°C under the existance of oxygen to change the β-CoOOH layers into sodium contained cobalt compound layers for manufacturing composite particle powder B. Then, the composite particle powder B is used as active material powder to manufacture an unsintered nickel pole. The usage factor of the active material shown as a vertical axis in a figure is an index, where the usage factor of the active material at the third cycle for the unsintered nickel pole a1 is 100.
