To provide a method for manufacturing a vinyl chloride resin wherein heat is removed at not less than 50% of a total heat release value during the course of polymerization reaction by means of a reflux condenser, and high- speed, high-productivity polymerization can be maintained over a long time according to an efficient control method using a reflux condenser while preventing flashing-back toward the reflux condenser.
In the method for manufacturing a vinyl chloride resin through suspension polymerization by use of a jacketed polymerizer equipped with a reflux condenser 5 wherein a vinyl chloride monomer is homopolymerized or a vinyl chloride monomer and other copolymerizable monomer are copolymerized to provide a vinyl chloride resin, while an amount of cooling water in the reflux condenser is controlled according to a preset flow rate pattern, the quantity in removal of heat of polymerization reaction is controlled by controlling the amount of cooling water fed to a jacket portion 2 of the polymerizer, thereby stabilizing the quantity of the heat removed in the reflux condenser. Moreover, the heat is also removed by fine control of an amount of cooling water in the reflux condenser by feeding back an opening of a cooling water-adjusting valve 4 at the jacket portion of the polymerizer.
