Abstract:
PURPOSE: To manufacture a weapon barrel having a wear resistant inner coating with electrolytic processing.
CONSTITUTION: For forming a relatively thick protective layer in a region exposed to a large thermal load on an inner wall of a particularly large diameter weapon barrel 1 with a simplified method, in a region in which a loading chamber 2 of the weapon barrel 1 with an accurate diameter previously manufactured and a protective layer 10 of a diameter portion laid continuously with the former should be provided, a recessed portion is provided with electrochemical removal (electrolytic polishing), and then the recessed portion is filled with an electrolytic method to form the protective layer 10. In that. case, the same electrode 4 is preferably employed for any of an electrolytic polishing process and an electrolytic coating process for forming the protective layer 10.
