PURPOSE: To manufacture a whisker reinforced metal composite material quickly and smoothly by preheating the composite body dispersing a whisker in a matrix metal and pressurizing/solidifying after bringing the matrix metal into contact by heating at more than the freezing point.
CONSTITUTION: The whisker reinforcing material of SiC, Si2N4, etc., is combined by dispersing it into the matrix metal of Al, Mg or those alloys, etc., and the composite body 10 subjected to plastic working is preheated to the freezing point of said metal, -50°C liquids line temp. W freezing point or liquids line temp. The Vf of the whisker of this composite body 10 is preferably at 10W35%. Said preheated composite body 10 is arranged in a melting dispersion chamber 3 and subjected to vacuum exhausting from an evacuation hole 1. On the other hand the same metal as said matrix metal is fed from an inlet port 4 into a molten metal chamber 7 at its freezing point, liquids line temp. W freezing point or liquids line temp.+50°C. Said molten metal is poured into the melting dispersion chamber 3 from an injection hole 6 by lifting a plunger 5 and the composite material 10 is melted and dispersed. A composite body 11 is thereafter obtd. by pressurizing/solidifying those by a plunger 2 in a freezing chamber 9.
