PURPOSE: To obtain a thin, wide and long sheet of cork by chipping off the outer surface of a cork cylinder that small pieces of cork are compressed lengthwise and breadth-wise.

CONSTITUTION: A thin, wide and long sheet of cork 4 is manufactured by chipping off the outer surface of a cork cylinder 2 that small pieces of cork 1 are compressed lengthwise and breadth-wise. The pattern of the cork sheet is controllable by arranging and arraying different size of cork pieces 1 according to a desired composition to prepare the cylinder. The cork pieces 1 coated with adhesive on the side and compressed each other by pressure P to fix completely in order to realize the chipped thin sheet being strong enough for stretching as one piece of sheet. The cork cylinder 2 is held and rotated by an upper roll and a lower roll in the band machine. The thin sheet 4 with a desired thickness is manufactured by chipping with a knife 8 prepared in full width of cork cylinder 2 and placed at the upper roller fixed on the machine keeping a controllable distance D.
