To provide a manufacturing apparatus of metallic balls in which the drip of molten metal need not be stopped in collecting the manufactured metallic balls when the metallic balls are manufactured by an in-oil dripping method, and a manufacturing method using the apparatus.

In a manufacturing apparatus provided with a column 1 having a heater on its upper part, and a collection container 5 having a discharge pipe 4 on its lower part through a discharge valve 3 on a lower end part of the column 1 through a reception valve 2, the discharge valve 3 is closed, and oil is supplied to an upper part of the column 1. The temperature of the oil at the upper part of the column 1 is higher than the melting point of the object metal. The molten body of the object metal, or object metal pieces cut to the desired size are dripped, and after metallic balls 6 of the desired quantity are stored in the collection container 5, a movable container 8 filled with oil is arranged so that a lower end of the discharge pipe at the lower part of the collection container 5 is located below the liquid level of the movable container 8. Then, the reception valve 2 is closed, the discharge valve 3 is opened, and the metallic balls 6 in the collection container 5 are moved into the movable container 8, and then, the discharge valve 3 is closed, the reception valve 2 is opened to continue the manufacture of the metallic balls 6.
