Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow easy manufacturing in an endless carrier clamping piece manufacturing means for a metal belt by applying accurate and stable rough surface machining to the engaging surface of each clamping piece until it will completely match the tilting surface of a V-pulley.

CONSTITUTION: Clamping pieces 5'a, 5'b jammed in V-pulleys 1, 2' relatively rotate, coming gradually into engagement with the respective tilting surfaces 9', 9' of the pulleys 1, 2' under tensile force, and the engaging surfaces of each piece 5' and the tilting surfaces 9', 9' of the pulleys 1, 2' are rubbed together to the central direction of the pulleys 1, 2'. In this process, stresses are concentrated on the engaging surfaces of the piece 5'a, and as the pulleys 1, 2' rotate, convexed portions of the engaging surface are crushed by the rubbing operation, and consequently load is shared with respect to the engaging surface, so that the engaging surfaces can completely match the tilting surfaces of the pulleys, thereby allowing easy manufacturing.
