Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing 2-methyl-2-adamantanol and a magnesium chloride salt thereof in a high yield with a high efficiency on an industrial scale.
The method for manufacturing the magnesium chloride salt of 2-methyl-2-adamantanol comprises causing 2-adamantanone to react with methylmagnesium chloride, where methylmagnesium chloride is used as a solution having a concentration of not higher than the saturated solubility at an outdoor temperature where the reaction is carried out and at least 0.1 mol/L.
