Abstract:

To provide a manufacturing method of catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid capable of adequately suppressing the temperature of a hot spot part, in a method of manufacturing methacrylic acid by catalytically oxidizing methacrolein in a vapor phase with molecular oxygen in the presence of solid oxidation catalyst by means of a fixed bed tubular type reactor.

The manufacturing method of catalyst for manufacturing methacrylic acid is characterized in that a catalyst precursor is activated by final baking at a temperature in the range of 300C to 500C, wherein the temperature of the catalyst precursor is continuously raised up to a final baking treatment temperature and the baking from 200C to 265C is performed at a temperature-rising speed less than 10C/hr, with respect to the method of manufacturing a hetero-polyacid type catalyst including phosphorus and molybdenum for methacrylic acid.
