The chop saw is equipped with a base assembly, a blade assembly, and the arm pivotally attached to the base assembly and carrying the blade assembly, wherein the blade assembly is arranged movable between the lower position for engaging and cutting a workpiece and the upper position not engaging the workpiece. Further the chop saw includes a vise for holding the workpiece in the prescribed position, a latch support part to support a vise screw, and a jaw part provided in the vise screw. When the blade assembly is at the lower position, the maximum distance between the jaw part and the latch support part is about equal or shorter than the distance between the blade center and the latch support part. Further the chop saw has a substantially horizontal handle connected to the blade assembly. The handle is slightly curved, with the centerpoint of curvature being disposed below the handle and towards the base.
