To provide an energy-saving efficient copolymer latex, which hardly generates bulky aggregates during a polymerization reaction and requires no excessive heating from the outside of a polymerization reaction system, for an adhesive between rubber and fibers.
The copolymer latex is obtained by emulsifying polymerization of 100 pts.wt. of a polymerizable monomer composed of 30-80 pts.wt. of an aliphatic conjugated diene, 5-30 pts.wt. of a vinylpyridine, and 0-65 pts.wt. of another polymer copolymerizable with them. In the manufacturing method of the copolymer latex for an adhesive between rubber and fibers, after completion of preparation of the whole or a part of the monomers, a temperature T2 in the polymerization system is brought to the range of 45-80C after polymerization is started when a temperature T1 in the polymerization system is within the range of 0-40C, and in this process, 15% or more of the quantity of heat necessary for temperature increase (T2-T1) uses polymerization heat by the polymerization.
