Abstract:
To provide a copolymer latex excellent in stability during polymerization, and capable of giving excellent workability, adhesive strength, and blister resistance when used as a binder for paper coating.
In this manufacturing method for a copolymer latex, monomers (total: 100 pts.wt.) comprising 10-80 pts.wt. aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, 1-10 pts.wt. ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, and 10-89 pts.wt. other polymerizable monomer are emulsion polymerized by adding 0.1-8 pts.wt. α-methylstyrene dimer and 10-40 pts.wt. unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon having an unsaturated bond in the ring.
