Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce an outside diameter, and increase a fiber volume rate by integrally forming a preform wire bundle by roller dies or rolling rollers while passing it through the inside of a constant temperature oven held at a prescribed ambient temperature.

CONSTITUTION: Heaters 4 of a constant temperature oven 5 are actuated, and the inside of the oven 5 is put at a prescribed temperature, and the inside of the oven 5 is filled with inert gas by a gas injecting means 22. A winding bobbin 8 is rotated at constant winding speed. Then, respective SiC/Al preform wires 2 wound round sending-out bobbins 1 are delivered at constant speed, and are gatherted by a gathering hole 13, and are introduced in the oven 5 as a wire bundle 3. The wire bundle 3 in the oven 5 is heated to a prescribed temperature by the heaters 4, and aluminium is put in a soft and easily reactive condition. In this condition, it is integrally rolled by roller dies 6, and is formed as an Si/Al fiber reinforced composite wire 7 having a desired diameter, and is wound round the winding bobbin 8.
