Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the adherence force of emitter substance and scheme to obtain long life of electrode, by forming unevenness on the surface of the electrode filament of discharge lamp, and coating emitter substance and fixing the substance by firing.

CONSTITUTION: Unevenness is formed on the surface of the electrode filament of discharge lamp, and emitter is coated, and fixed through firing. In order to form unevenness, the minute particles formed of W, WC, Mo, or Al2O3 all of which are poorly reactive with mercury and having the particle diameter of 30W50μm or less are codeposited on the filament 2 surface, for example, through composite coating and onto the particles, emitter substance 3 is adhered, and thus the adherence force of filament 2 and emitter substance 3 is increased. Thus, the falling rate in emitter drop test is remarkably reduced, and the life of electrode can be elongated sharply.
