The manufacturing method of the electron emission electrode comprises (1) a catalyst particle carrying process of having carbon nanohorn constituting carbon nanohorn particles carry catalyst particles, (2) a paste preparation process of preparing paste by mixing the carbon nanohorn particles constituted of the carbon nanohorn made to carry catalyst particles with a solvent containing a binder or the like, (3) a paste coating process of spreading in plane and coating the paste on a cathode electrode, and (4) a carbon nanotube growing process of growing carbon nanotube from the catalyst particles carried by the carbon nanohorn constituting the carbon nanohorn particles in the paste coated on the cathode electrode.
