Title:
MANUFACTURING METHOD OF ELECTRON TUBE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008097840
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method of making smaller (narrower) a spacing between a cathode substrate and an anode substrate after homogenizing length of an activated fibrous carbon in a manufacturing method of an electron tube equipped with an electron source composed of the fibrous carbon such as carbon nanotube.

A fluorescent display tube is assembled by retaining the cathode substrate 1, the anode substrate 2, a sealing member 31, and a spacer 32 by a jig for retention, and both substrates are bonded by heating and softening the sealing member 31. Next, a power source E1 is connected to a cathode conductor 12 and an anode conductor 22. Since although the fibrous carbons 141, 142 emit electrons, an electric field is concentrated on the tip of the long fibrous carbon 141, the tip is burned and lost by Joule heat, and the length of the fibrous carbons becomes homogeneous as in Fig.1(c). After its homogenization, the fluorescent display tube of Fig.1(c) is reheated, and if the sealing member 31 and the spacer 32 are softened, by a pressing force of X2 direction of the jig for retention, the sealing member 31 and the spacer 32 are smashed and as in Fig.1(d), the spacing between the cathode substrate 1 and the anode substrate 2 becomes smaller (H1H2).
