Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for manufacturing a catalyst converter which is used in an exhaust system, etc., of an internal combustion engine such as a car engine, in particular, the catalyst converter in which a mat is wound around an outer circumferential surface of a honeycomb body, and inserted in a cylindrical body to perform the reduction-drawing of the circumferential surface of the cylindrical body, and to dispose the honeycomb body excellently and to fixed it to the cylindrical body irrespective of the outside diameter of the honeycomb body and the thickness, density, etc., of the mat. SOLUTION: In the method and the device for manufacturing the catalyst converter, the weight of the mat 2 to be inserted in the cylindrical body 3 and the outside diameter of the honeycomb body 1 are measured, and the drawing diameter of the cylindrical body 3 is changed according to the measurement result thereof, or the cylindrical body 3 is subjected to drawing work by selecting drawing dies 85a-85c.
