Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to stably form a nitride layer even when nitriding temperature is set to temperature lower than 1100°C.SOLUTION: In performing a nitriding treatment process of heating a product to be processed made of ferritic stainless steel inside a nitriding chamber 2 of a nitriding furnace 1, which has inert gas atmosphere containing Ngas, at high nitriding temperature or higher than a transformation point and forming a nitride layer on a surface of the product to be processed, the nitriding temperature in the nitriding treatment process is set to temperature lower than 1100°C and a state where solid-state carbon 11 exists on an inner wall of the nitriding chamber 2 is created. Accordingly, a passive film can be destroyed by the action of the solid-state carbon 11 which exists on the inner wall of the nitriding chamber 2 and carbon contained in a material of the product to be processed. Therefore, even when the nitriding temperature is set to temperature lower than 1100°C, nitrogen can be stably made become solid solution on the surface of ferritic stainless steel, and the nitride layer can be stably formed.
