To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing a gasoline base material having a high octane number from a cracked gasoline by improving the octane number of the cracked gasoline while controlling the decline of the liquid yield upon catalytic reforming and suppressing the loss of the octane barrel.
A method for manufacturing a high octane number gasoline base material is provided which uses as the raw material a cracked gasoline whose boiling point range is included in the range of 70-210C. The portion 30-90 vol% of the entire cracked gasoline as the raw material is subjected to hydrotreating, then the generated oil obtained by the hydrotreating is subjected to catalytic reforming treatment to obtain a catalytically reformed reformate, and the remainder of the raw material cracked gasoline is mixed in its total amount to the above catalytically reformed reformate.
