Abstract:

To properly improve accuracy of end face grinding of a glass substrate for a magnetic disk by properly readjusting a grinding wheel to be used in chamfering of an end face of the glass substrate.

In this manufacturing method of the glass substrate, a shape processing process for chambering the end face of the glass substrate by a rotary grinding wheel 20 buried with abrasive grains and a dressing process for dressing the rotary grinding wheel 20 by using a dressing device 200 mounted with a dress material 30 pressed on the rotary grinding wheel 20 and the rotary grinding wheel 20 are provided. The dressing device 200 dresses the rotary grinding wheel 20 by adjusting a positional relation between the dress material 30 and the rotary grinding wheel 20 and bringing the dress material 30 and the rotary grinding wheel 20 into pressure contact with each other, while controlling the positional relation.
