Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing a graphite-based carbon material which can raise the initial charge and discharge efficiencies of a battery using the carbon material by easily increasing the rate of a rhombohedral graphite layer while suppressing the steep rise of a manufacturing cost and the mixing of impurities.

The graphite-based carbon material has at least the rhombohedral graphite layer and a hexagonal graphite layer. Centrifugal force is applied to the graphite-based carbon material where the intensity ratio (P1/P2) between peak intensity (P1) in the (100) plane and peak intensity (P2) in the (002) plane of the hexagonal graphite layer by an X-ray diffraction method is 0.01 or more.
