Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing high quality Guerbet alcohol with small amount of impurities by suppressing generation of a byproduct ester.SOLUTION: [1] A method of manufacturing Guerbet alcohol by reacting a raw material alcohol having 8 or larger and 22 or smaller carbons under the presence of (A) a catalyst containing the following first component, a second component, and a third component. The first component: copper, the second component: one kind selected from the group consisting of cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, and rhenium, the third component: at least one kind that is an element belonging to the third to tenth, twelfth group of the fourth period of a periodic table, and an element belonging to the third to seventh group and the eleventh to twelfth group of the fifth to sixth period of the periodic table and selected from the group consisting of an element different from the elements selected as the second component.SELECTED DRAWING: None
