To provide a method effectively manufacturing a hydrogenated oligomer of an unsaturated bicycloheptane derivative in a high hydrogenation ratio useful as a fluid for traction drive having a high coefficient of traction at high temperature, excellent in viscometric property at low temperature.
This method for manufacturing the hydrogenated oligomer of the unsaturated bicycloheptane derivative comprises carrying out a continuous hydrogenation by flowing the oligomer of the unsaturated bycyloheptane derivative and hydrogen gas in a reactor system wherein two or more flow-through type reactors filled with fixed bed catalysts are serially installed and the catalyst bed temperature of the downstream reactor is set to be 20-200°C higher than that of the upstream reactor.
