To provide a method for manufacturing an inorganic powder molding which comprises kneading inorganic powder containing titanium oxide powder as a main component, water and water-soluble cellulose derivative, while extruding the kneaded mixture from a die with no need of a large force for the kneading.
The manufacturing method comprises mixing an inorganic powder containing titanium oxide powder as a main component, water, 0.1 pts.mass to 5 pts.mass of the water-soluble cellulose derivative with respect to 100 pts.mass of the inorganic powder, and 1 pt.mass to 5 pts.mass of a sucrose fatty acid ester with respect to 100 pts.mass of the inorganic powder to make a molding material, and kneading the molding material while extruding the kneaded material to make a molding. Usually, the crystal type of the titanium oxide powder is a rutile type; BET specific surface area is 5 to 30 m2/g; the particle diameter is 0.1 to 10 m; the central particle diameter is 0.5 to 1 m; and the tamped density is 0.2 to 0.5 g/cm3.
