To provide a manufacturing method of a columnar-shaped spacer for which drag characteristics of glass is utilized, and a method by which the columnar-shaped spacer is installed at a plate board of a flat plate element.
This is the manufacturing method of the spacer which includes a process of preparing a core glass of which the solubility against a chemical etching solution is low, and a tube glass of which the solubility against the chemical etching solution is high, and which also has a larger inner diameter than the outer diameter of the core glass, a process of making a columnar-shaped glass 23 by inserting the core glass into the tube glass, a process of making the diameter of the core glass as the diameter of the spacer by dragging the columnar-shaped glass at a prescribed temperature, a process of cutting the dragged columnar-shaped glass to nearly the length of the spacer, and a process of removing the tube glass of the cut columnar-shaped glass by the chemical etching solution.
