Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high value-adding method for utilizing slag treated as industrial waste and to settle environmental issues by forming iron-containing enamel glaze using the slag. SOLUTION: Starting materials containing <40 wt.% slag discharged from a cupola or a blast furnace for iron manufacture, 20-50 wt.% silica rock, 30-60 wt.% borax, 1-20 wt.% alkali metallic carbonate, 0-10 wt.% barium carbonate and 1-2 wt.% at least one of compounds of cobalt, nickel and copper are fritted and <2 pts.wt. borax and 2-10 pst.wt. clay are added to 100 pts.wt. of the resulting frit, comminuted and mixed to prepare particles having 10-35 μm average particle diameter.
