PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an isothiazole-5-methanol compound represented by the formula (1), under an industrially preferable condition at high yield and without passing an unstable intermediate for stable supply.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a compound represented by the formula (1) by manufacturing an isothiazole-5-carboxylic acid ester compound from a compound represented by the formula (2) and reacting the ester compound with a reductant in a presence of a metal salt.
