To provide a manufacturing method for a magnesium ingot composed of magnesium or a magnesium alloy by which the yield, the quality, and the productivity of the ingot can be improved, and manufacturing costs can be reduced.

A raw material of the magnesium alloy is charged into a container 1 made of a heat resistant metal and it is heated. After the raw material is melted in the container, the molten metal is solidified in the container. The solidified magnesium ingot 6 is re-heated and heat-treated together with the container. After that, it is separated from the container.
