To manufacture a metal ring having almost no stress concentration and to facilitate the manufacture and the maintenance of a rolling roller in which meshed unevenness is transferred to the metal ring.
The meshed unevenness 8 is formed on the surface of the inner periphery rolling roller 6. The unevenness 8 is formed by rotating the inner periphery rolling roller 6 at a prescribed rotational frequency, reciprocating a grinding wheel 9 in the axial direction of the inner periphery rolling roller 6 and urging an object with prescribed force on the surface of the inner periphery rolling roller 6. The numbers of the grinding wheel are in the range from # 270 to # 1,000. When the inner peripheral face of the metal ring 1 is rolled by the inner periphery rolling roller 6, the meshed unevenness 2 is transferred to the metal ring 1. The meshed unevenness 2 is formed by transferring the meshed unevenness 8 formed by the grinding wheel 9. Accordingly, the width between each unevenness is narrow and random. As a result, it has excellent lubricity when the metal ring 1 is laminated. Also, if solution treatment and nitriding treatment are performed to the metal ring 1, the metal ring 1, which is high in compression residual stress and high in toughness, can be formed.
