To achieve an element having an electrolyte layer which is dense and has high gas barrier performance.SOLUTION: A metal support electrochemical device E at least includes: a metal substrate 1 as a support; an electrode layer 2 formed on the metal substrate 1; a buffer layer 3 formed on the electrode layer 2; and an electrolyte layer 4 formed on the buffer layer 3. The electrode layer 2 is porous. The electrolyte layer 4 is dense. The denseness of the buffer layer 3 is larger than the denseness of the electrode layer 2 and smaller than the denseness of the electrolyte layer 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
