To provide a manufacturing method for microfibrous cellulose capable of easily providing microfibrous cellulose with a fiber width of 2-1000 nm by loosening cellulose fiber mechanically.
In a manufacturing method for microfibrous cellulose, wood chips are turned into wood flour, and a chemical treatment is performed, followed by a microfabrication treatment to manufacture microfibrous cellulose with a maximum fiber width of 1000 nm or less. The chemical treatment of the method is conducted so that the wood flour has a major axis of 30-50 μm with a minor axis of 15-35 μm at a point where an accumulation in quantity in a particle size and shape distribution measurement is 50%, and then, chemical treatments, that is, a cleaning treatment, a delignification treatment and a hemicellulose-removing treatment are performed in this order. And the delignification treatment is performed at a temperature of 70-99°C and at a pH of 3 or less.
