Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing the aimed product (a composite with a Pd-containing metal particle or with a Rh complex) by using a modified apoferritin modified according to the purpose.

An amino acid residue participating in the bonding of a Pd ion in a Pd ion-bondable site (a site exhibiting a bonding property to a Pd ion) is replaced to give a modified apoferritin having a decreased number of the sites. Pd ions are caused to bond to the Pd ion-bondable sites and are reduced to form a metal particle containing Pd in the inner space of the modified apoferritin. An amino acid residue participating in the bonding of a Rh complex in a Rh complex-bondable site (a site exhibiting a bonding property to a Rh complex) is replaced to give a modified apoferritin having a decreased number of the sites. Rh complexes are caused to bond to the Rh complex-bondable sites to form a Rh complex-modified apoferritin composite.
