Abstract:
To produce molten iron with high productivity and energy utilization efficiency, using an electric furnace with a preheating chamber for preheating iron-based scrap with a furnace exhaust gas.SOLUTION: A lime-based slag-forming material is charged into a preheating chamber 2 together with an iron-based scrap, the slag-forming material is preheated together with the iron-based scrap in the preheating chamber 2, and then is supplied into a melting chamber 1. Since slag is formed in a short time, slag-formation is stabilized so that energy utilization efficiency is improved. Furthermore, peroxidation due to excessive preheating of iron-based scrap can be prevented and energy loss for reducing iron-based scrap that has been oxidized is suppressed, and hanging of the iron-based scrap in the preheating chamber 2 is suppressed which enables energy utilization efficiency to be improved, and enables a stable operation with high productivity to be performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
