PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an outside joint member and the outside joint member, which can enhance the strength and quality of a weld part, and can reduce a welding cost.SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of an outside joint member 11 of a constant velocity universal joint, a cup member 12a and a shaft member 13a are formed of medium carbon steel, the cup member 12a in which a joining end face is formed at an external face of a bottom part 12a2 in a machining process and the shaft member 13a in which a joining end face to be joined to the bottom part 12a2 of the cup member 12a is formed in the machining process are prepared after integrally forming a cylindrical part 12a1 and the bottom part 12a2 by forging, the joining end face of the cup member 12a and the joining end face of the shaft member 13a are made to abut on each other, and there is performed welding 49 by irradiating a beam to the abutment part from the outside of the cup member 12a in the radial direction. Outside diameters of the joining end faces are made to be the same in dimensions at each joint size.
