Abstract:
To provide a method for continuously manufacturing propylene oxide by an epoxidation reaction of propylene with an organic peroxide with a high yield and a high energy efficiency.
In the continuous manufacture of propylene oxide by reacting the organic peroxide with propylene, near infrared spectra in the epoxidation process below are continuously measured to analyze properties based on the obtained spectra and the reaction conditions of the epoxidation process are controlled based on the analyzed properties. The epoxidation process is one for obtaining propylene oxide and an organic alcohol by reacting the organic peroxide with propylene.
