Abstract:

To provide a manufacturing method for the salt of an α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester which is inhibited from the coloration with simplifying or omitting a bleaching process and besides is improved in the smell and moreover is excellent in the detergency.

The manufacturing method for a salt of an α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester comprising a raw material refining process of obtaining a refined fatty acid alkyl ester by removing polar impurities from a fatty acid alkyl ester; a sulfonating process of the sulfonation by contacting the refined fatty acid alkyl ester with a sulfonating gas; and a neutralizing process of gaining a neutralizate by the neutralization, is characterized in that the above sulfonating process is carried out in the presence of a coloration-inhibiting agent.
