Abstract:
To effectively prevent occurrence of an inner surface flaw at the time of manufacture of a seamless steel pipe.SOLUTION: A method for manufacture of a seamless steel pipe, which contains Cu of 0.25 to 0.5%, Ni of 0.5% or less, and Sb of 0.05 to 0.5% in mass%, and has a chemical composition which contains Fe as a main component, comprises: (1) a process in which a round billet comprising a steel having the afore-said chemical composition is prepared; (2) a process in which a scale modifier, which contains Si compound, is coated onto at least one end face of the round billet; (3) a process in which the round billet, which has been coated with the scale modifier, is heated; and (4) a process in which the round billet after heating is bored and rolled from said one end face.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
