Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce succinic acids in a short time at high yield when converting fumarates which is a by-product during manufacturing maleate to succinic acids by hydrogenation.SOLUTION: During manufacturing succinic acids by hydrogenation of fumarates which is a by-product during manufacturing maleic acid anhydride, a vanadium compound of 0.2 mass.ppm to 200 mas.ppm in terms of a vanadium atom is present to the by-product fumarates. In this case, a phosphorus atom is preferably contained at 0.01 to 100 gram atom per 1 gram atom of vanadium in the vanadium compound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
