Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method for a torsion beam improved in fatigue life in a simple fashion and at low cost.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for a torsion beam according to the invention, which manufactures a torsion beam 21 that has a nearly V-shape part 23 corresponding to a center part of a tubular member 1 and having a tube-axis orthogonal cross section in a nearly V-shape and a shape transition part 25 corresponding to both end parts of the tubular member 1, in which a shape of the tube-axis orthogonal cross section transitions, comprises: a first molding step in which an upper die 7 is moved up to a molding bottom dead point toward a lower die 5 relatively to the tubular member 1 having plugs 3 inserted into both end parts thereof and then is pressed there to mold the nearly V-shape part 23 and the shape transition part 25; and a second molding step in which the molded shape transition part 25 is not pressed by the upper die 7, the plugs 3 inserted into both end parts are moved toward a center in a tube-axis direction, a part of the shape transition part 25 is forcefully widened to be deformed up to a plastic range, and thereafter restraints by the plugs 3 are released, so as to elastically recover the shape transition part 25.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
