Abstract:

To efficiently produce a roller having improved traction property and durability.

When forming a fine unevenness on a rolling surface 2 of a disc 1 having the rolling surface 2 of arcuate contour on a center cross section along a rotational axis C, a working machine is used which consists of a rolling surface contour working tool 24, a grooving tool 4, a grinding tool 14 having a contact area of 25 mm2 or less with the rolling surface 2, and a tool exchanging mechanism 40. Herein, the contour of the rolling surface 2 is formed on the disc 1 followed by the movement of the grooving tool 4 relative to the disc 1 to alternately form recessed portion 3a and protruded portions 3b on the rolling surface 2 so that a level difference is finally 3μm or less. Then, the grinding tool 14 is pushed against the rolling surface 2 and the disc 1 and the grinding tool 14 are relatively moved to form the protruded portions 3b.
