Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the amount of silicon and aluminum alloy other than the amount between diamonds and a cutting tool, which is required for jointing the diamonds and the tool by applying pressure and jointing them after melting the aluminum alloy and silicon by heating them with aluminum alloy put between vapor phase composite diamond coated silicon and the tool.
CONSTITUTION: Small pieces of a shape required for the process for jointing diamonds to a cutting tool are cut from a silicon substrate which is coated with diamonds, and the side of a silicon substrate 2 made of a small piece is opposed to a cutting tool 4, and aluminum alloy 3 is arranged between the small piece and the tool 4 so as not to contact with the tool 4. In the next step, the diamond is jointed to the tool by contacting molten silicon aluminum alloy with the tool 4 and applying pressure after melting the aluminum allay 3 heated up to temperature higher than the melting point of the aluminum alloy 3.
