Abstract:
To provide a map data update method capable of performing an update process in good time.SOLUTION: In a map data update method which is executed with a map information system 1 mounted on a vehicle, map data includes plural pieces of block data partitioned for respective blocks on a map and is stored in a storage device 52 of the map information system. The map information system: determines block data to be updated on the basis of at least either one of travel history and a predicted future route when a vehicle is in a sleep state; communicate with a map server 3 having updated map data; downloads updated data corresponding to the block data to be updated from the map server; and updates the block data stored in the storage device on the basis of the downloaded updated data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
