Abstract:
PURPOSE: To display an air view allowing a user to easily obtain a sense of distance and realism.
CONSTITUTION: A control circuit 3 sets up a destination of a vehicle and its recommended route and sets up a picture display mode and a display environment. On the other hand, grid line information for displaying an air view and a plane map is previously stored in a grid line information storing memory 8, the circuit 3 selects grid line information corresponding to a picture display mode selected by an operator, and at the time of displaying a road map, displays a grid line so as to superpose it to the road map. Thereby a sense of distance can easily be grasped even at the time of displaying an air view and an air view with much reality can be displayed. Since the display position of the grid line is fixed, it is unnecessary to rewrite the grid line even when a road map on a screen is scrolled and the grid line can be displayed without exerting influence upon a picture rewriting speed. It is also possible to change the display position of the grind line.
