Abstract:

To provide a map information processing system and a map information processing method, which allow a discretionary area on a map to be specified without rotating the entire map, and the specified area to be output to an output medium with a given direction of the area horizontally oriented.

The map information processing system includes: output area specification means 31 that specifies a discretionary and closed output area 5 on a map; reference straight line setting-means 32 that sets a reference straight line 6 on the map; virtual rotation means 33 that virtually rotates the output area 5 and reference straight line 6 so that the reference straight line 6 is horizontal while maintaining the mutual relative positional relation between the output area 5 and reference straight line 6; and map output means that outputs the virtually rotated output area 5 so that the reference straight line 6 is parallel with a discretionary one-side of the output medium.
